Some of you may have read my Pink Pepper Patch post. (If you didn’t, you can read it here.) There’s a cutesy story behind that title. You’ll just have to click over and read the other post to find out, though. Mean, aren’t I?
*giggles*
Actually, I’m far from mean, but I don’t want to spoil the fun for you by spilling the beans!
Anyway, this post is about the fruits of my pepper patch. Today, while I was outside, my husband noticed some more little peppers had popped up in the pink pepper patch.
“You’d better pick ‘em,” he smiled.
I ran over and snatched ‘em up.
“I know, I’ll chop ‘em and freeze ‘em!”
“That’ll work,” he said.
And with that, I was off to the kitchen in search of the cutting board and knife.
As I chopped, my mind wandered. How exciting it was to think of all the yummy creations those peppers would add spicy flavor to.
Here’s a few ideas for using up frozen peppers:
- Omelets
- Chili
- Soup
- Stew
- Sloppy Joes
- Casseroles
- Spicy cornbread
- Breakfast burritos
- Fill in the blank with your ideas
Once I got those bad boys chopped, I took the photo you see above and then swiped the (very hot) jalapeño and cayenne peppers in to a freezer bag.
And that’s where they’ll sit until I need a bit of spice in my life. I’ll have to go light with them, though – they burn! For real, as I was chopping, I forgot about having scooped the seeds out and wiped the sweat off my forehead.
Burn, baby, burn!
Oh, yes. That burn lasted quite a few minutes. It was worth it. I know my future recipes will appreciate my efforts.
Do you store peppers? What’s your favorite meal to heat up? Let’s talk!
